May is Mental Health Awareness Month. I often get questions from the bereaved about mental illness or the “s” word that I don’t like to use. The issue has come up in many sessions over the years.
The souls tell me that since mental illness is of the physical body, we are free from it once we transition into the Hereafter. Souls who come through often say they can see things more clearly now that they are free of the disease. They can see that people were around who could have helped them. They simply were unable to see it at the time. Their vision was clouded by the mental illness.
What we need to remember is that people suffering from mental illness are not in the right frame of mind. Those who have taken their own lives often say that while they are okay and in a good place now, they still wish they would have stuck it out here. They wished they were able to complete their spiritual journey here, and they urge us to complete our own.
While we may be heart broken at the loss of a loved one, they say they want us to do the best we can to find joy, wherever we can. Remember, each day is one day less and brings us one day closer to a joyous reunion. The souls who have stuck it out say they are glad they did and happy to have completed the spiritual growth they were meant to in this life.
